I think I've come up with another recipe for my Salamanders and I'm tempted to repaint everything ... or do I just accept the variances in my models? I basically drybrushed the edge highlights and repainted the base layer over the dusty bits. It destroys some of the highlights I airbrushed but it's quite a bit easier and faster than brushing on all of those edge highlights that my shaky hands struggle to keep a crisp line. #Warhammer40k #spacemarines40k #salamanders40k #armageddon40k #astartes

I needed a break from painting orks, so I finally got around to painting an assault terminator, slightly converted from the new kit. The new Horus Heresy box set that features a Saturnine armor in the Salamanders colors, and the upcoming Armageddon campaign book, has me excited about my own Salamanders again. I have been absolutely loving painting orks lately but repainting all of my old orks (plus new models) is quite a Sisyphean struggle. The hit of serotonin from sharing photos and playing with them has been fantastic though and I've really enjoyed converting, painting and playing the green skins. But I also pre-ordered the new Space Wolves box set... I may be an addict. 

The Tale of Four Gamers and @arbitorian have been talking about my favorite historical war from the future, the Badab War.  My army ADD keeps getting the best of me, but I intend on painting more of my Salamander collection in the Badab War camouflage scheme. I just retouched this Blade Guard Veteran from my Salamanders army, the Hellbenders. I previously painted him to a playable standard for a tournament, but I wanted to take him to a higher level now that I'm not under a time constraint. It was a blast to revisit these classic Space Marines for the #90smarinechallenge. Here's my finished battle brother from my favorite chapter, the Salamanders, complete with period accurate base!  At the time, the 'Eavy Metal Salamanders were a much darker green and I suspect that was to make them stand out from the goblin green bases. WIP 4 of my #90smarinechallenge mini. I'm getting close, but due to work, I don’t have much free time to put on this fellow before the deadline.  Also, every time I fix something, I seem to add another thing I need to touch up! However, I'm very happy with how this is going! 

WIP of my #90smarinechallenge mini after about 4 paint sessions. I mucked up the flames on my bolter, and there's some smoothing out to be done, but I like where it's going. 

I got in another hour of painting on my #90smarinechallenge mini. I've lost most of my work on the chest gem and aquilla after gluing the bolter on...  I may make the gun red since it all looks very green. 80s & 90s Salamanders were a much darker shade of green and it makes sense to have their armor stand out more against the goblin green base. #wip #Warhammer40k #oldhammer #salamanders40k

Another ancient battle brother is finally ready to serve the Emperor after finally receiving a long-awaited paint job! 

I just finished this terminator in time for 4th edition. I'm about 20 years behind but better late than never!  I should get to those new Leviathan terminators around 2042.  

If I've learned anything from playing my Dark Angels army it's that cyclone missiles are great. Like really great, so I'm adding some to my Rogue Trader Salamanders army. I'm also wavering on my plan for taking these guys to the LVO... I keep thinking about Space Wolves and painting burnout has left me converting my some wolf boys

  The Tactical Dreadnought armor - or Terminator armor as it's now known - is the workhorse in most of my Space Marine armies, including my Rogue Trader Salamanders.

Road to LVO Post IV I just finished touching up this Sergeant with power sword in my Rogue Trader Salamanders army. I'll probably add some glow from the power sword and dust effects to his boots, but there's something so pure about the clean paint job of 90's minis.
