New Orks Recruits

Double trouble - a couple of new boyz have joined the warband!  #orks40k #spaceorks #deathskulls #miniaturepainting

Warhammer 40k RTT Results

It sucks to suck. I played in a small 40k RTT this past weekend and I didn’t fair well, going 1-2. The tournament organizer allowed a player to bring his Crusher Stampede list despite it just being removed from competitive events (this player just finished buying and building it so no real hard feelings) and allowed the new Balance Data sheet changes with the Armor of Contempt. In my first game, I played against a new ‘Nid list and scored a solid victory with my Deathwing. Their psychic powers are @#%^&* filthy and one of my biggest weaknesses so I was pleased that I scored a W for the match. It was close and if the player had played keep-away from me, I don’t think I could have won. My second match pitted me against a Thousand Sons player who brought termie spam with Magnus. Outside of cultists, I killed only 4-5 terminators and was shredded by mortal wounds. I failed twice to get my Litany of Faith off, which might have saved me a few wounds, but the T-sons ran away with the po

OOP Ork Shoota Boy

After waiting more than 30 years, this shoota boy finally received a paint job and is ready for battle!

Orks Warbiker

My Deathskulls army usually traveled on foot, but I've finally added some Warbikes too my mob. I think I've discovered a recipe for Ork skin that I love. It's Vallejo Russian Uniform, Ammo Moss Green, and Vallejo Golden Olive. Despite being from different paint lines, they blend so naturally together. I also started shading with Skeleton Hoard from Citadel Contrast and Citadel's purple ink (whatever stupid name they call it...) The purple shade make green skin seem more lifelike, like how veins look blue on fair skin tones. I've felt like I'm in the zone on the past few models I've painted and I'm making leaps in the quality of my work. I just want to keep painting!

Big Mek with Shokk Attack Gun

Ricky Brickthrower, my Big Mek with Shokk Attack Gun is loaded and ready to tel-a-port some Grots at da beakies! I know he's not a meta pick right now, but Deathskulls should have one of these lads "sniping" away in the backfield.

Warhammer 40k Ork Weirdboy

I'm giving up on painting Louie the Loon.  I keep fussing with this model and I'm not happy with the results so I'm throwing in the towel. I feel like I'm just packing on paint it I'll be ruining it if I keep going instead of improving.

Selling My Squats!

I've decided to part ways with my beloved Squat army from the late 80s to early 90s. Link to eBay I'm not enjoying the game of 40k again, and I'm probably never get to painting all of these stunty belly-draggers so I hope they will go to a good home. I was going to build them as Imperial Guard proxies, but who knows how the new army will be armed or on which size bases and not knowing was giving me an unreasonable amount of anxiety.  As a short and  bearded guy, I feel a connection to these guys, but I'm not sure I'll make a project out of them. I'm listing them at a high price, I'm hoping that I can cash in on the new buzz in Squats. I did keep a pair of models that were in the first blister I ever purchased to paint up, probably in the near future.
