WIP Grots

Without writing your age, post a model that shows how long you've been playing.

#IAmThisModelYearsOld

WIP Wednesday

Dear diary...

It's been a tough couple of weeks for me and the stress of the real world has robed me of the enjoyment of escaping in my hobbies.

Most of my wife's family have been in and out of the ER - all for different reasons, the drunk driver who nearly killed my mother is out and was caught drinking again, I was quarantined because a co-worker caught Covid (I've tested negative), other stressors at work make my day job unrewarding, my local gaming scene has evaporated because a once large community keeps breaking into smaller groups that don't get along... yadayadayada.

Long story short, I've been struggling with burnout so I've decided to go back to some of my earliest models and squad of these little guys are getting batch painted and now have the base colors blocked in.

I have been selling some stuff on ebay that I don't think I'll use again and that's been a little cathartic, but then sometimes I feel like I'm giving up and it bums me out.

As a creative type, I've got this burning urge to create, especially painting traditional paintings (not models) and writing lately but when I sit at the keyboard or easel, I lock up and all of the urge turns to doubt about my abilities and nothing gets done.

Salamanders Badab War Veteran

Primaris Marines are great sculpts, but they will never have the soul of the old hand-sculpted models.  The Badab War is my favorite battle in the 40k universe and its one of the reasons that the Salamanders are my favorite Space Marine chapter.  #miniaturepainting #paintingwarhammer #grimdark #warhammercommunity #salamanders #salamanders40k #28mm #spacemarines40k #oldhammer #badabwar #astartes #armageddon40k

Callidus Assassin

This is my newly painted Callidus assassin, Mary Poppin-yourbackfield. She scores points. I hate that I have to play one of these to stay competitive. Yar.

Bad News for Deathwing

The new Balance Data Slate was released today for Warhammer 40k 9th edition and my beloved Dark Angels Deathwing list took a beating.  If you don't have the codex, the fourth bullet point was the rule that gave Inner Circle infantry units, like Deathwing Terminators, Transhuman Physiology. Basically, the key feature that most players loved about the list.  Rest in peace, Deathwing, we hardly knew ye. Also, what a crappy way to write that rule?! Why not simply include a sentence that says, Inner Circle models do not benefit from transhuman without use of a strategem? I know 10th edition is supposed to be cleaner and easier to understand, but this does not bode well. I'm not really a loyal Dark Angels player (see what I did there?) so I'll just shift back to playing one of my other Marines armies or orks. I've been day dreaming about a Thunder Warriors army again and dug out some bits to work on conversions. I'm loving the idea of a Age of Stryfe White Scars/Star Hunt...
