Warhammer 40k Army Theme Songs

Ever since I was a wee lad first dipping my toes into miniature wargaming, I've always "sung along" while I played. While some players jiggle their dice, some pull their tape measure out and let it drop back in, but I've always had background music in my head and I tunelessly hum songs that match the armies on the table to the current events.

I'm also a big baseball fan and my friends and I would discuss our "walkup music" - the song that gets played over the stadium when you walk up to bat. Wrestlers have it. Comedians have it. James Bond has it. Why not Warhammer 40k?

Here are a few of my ideas:

Sons of Horus: Paint it Black - Rolling Stones

Emperor's Children - Beautiful People - Marilyn Manson

Iron Warriors: Ironman - Black Sabbath

Thousand Sons: I Fought the Law - the Clash

Nightlords: Thunderstuck AC/DC

World Eaters: Freak on a Leash - Korn

Word Bearers: Killing in the Name - Rage Against the Marines

Death Guard: Zombie - the Cranberries

Alpha Legion: Pretender - Foo Fighters

Adeptes Custodes: Club Foot - Kasabian

Ultramarines: Without Me - Eminem

Salamanders: Firestarter - Prodigy

Blood Angels: Learn to Fly - Foo Fighters

Blood Angels: Death Company: X Gon' Give it to Ya - DMX

Space Wolves: Immigrant Song - Led Zeppelin

White Scars: Born to be Wild - Steppenwolf

Dark Angels: Carry on my Wayward Son - Kansas

Raven Guard: Blue Monday - New Order/Orgy

Sisters of Battle: Black Betty - Ram Jam

Astra Millitarum/ Imperial Guard: 7 Nation Army - White Stripes

Adeptus Mechanicus: Harder Better Faster - Daft Punk

The Eldar races are getting the My Chemical Romance treatment

Asuryani: Helena - My Chemical Romance

Drukhari: I'm Not OK - My Chemical Romance

Ynnari: Welcome to the Black Parade - My Chemical Romance

Harlequins: Na Na Na - My Chemical Romance

Orks: Sabotage - Beastie Boys

Necrons: Bring Me to Life - Evanescence

Genestealer Cults: Bullet with Butterfly Wings - Smashing Pumpkins

Tyranids: La Cucaracha

Tau: Barney Theme Song

Let me know what you think or if you have any suggestions for the armies I've missed!

Salamanders Badab War Veteran

Primaris Marines are great sculpts, but they will never have the soul of the old hand-sculpted models.  The Badab War is my favorite battle in the 40k universe and its one of the reasons that the Salamanders are my favorite Space Marine chapter.  #miniaturepainting #paintingwarhammer #grimdark #warhammercommunity #salamanders #salamanders40k #28mm #spacemarines40k #oldhammer #badabwar #astartes #armageddon40k

Callidus Assassin

This is my newly painted Callidus assassin, Mary Poppin-yourbackfield. She scores points. I hate that I have to play one of these to stay competitive. Yar.

Bad News for Deathwing

The new Balance Data Slate was released today for Warhammer 40k 9th edition and my beloved Dark Angels Deathwing list took a beating.  If you don't have the codex, the fourth bullet point was the rule that gave Inner Circle infantry units, like Deathwing Terminators, Transhuman Physiology. Basically, the key feature that most players loved about the list.  Rest in peace, Deathwing, we hardly knew ye. Also, what a crappy way to write that rule?! Why not simply include a sentence that says, Inner Circle models do not benefit from transhuman without use of a strategem? I know 10th edition is supposed to be cleaner and easier to understand, but this does not bode well. I'm not really a loyal Dark Angels player (see what I did there?) so I'll just shift back to playing one of my other Marines armies or orks. I've been day dreaming about a Thunder Warriors army again and dug out some bits to work on conversions. I'm loving the idea of a Age of Stryfe White Scars/Star Hunt...
