9th Edition Warhammer 40k reaction.

I'm disappointed in the 9th edition of Warhammer 40,000 announcement.

First, I think it's too soon on the heels of the fantastic 8th edition. The constant updates after the Herculean task of releasing all the codexes was phenomenal! It may have been the most balanced game that Games Workshop has ever had.

Second, the 400 current items getting a price hikes sucks. It's already an expensive game and frankly, it's too much. Now I also need to buy another set of rules and likely codexes, annual updates, Chapter Approved, cards, etc.

Third,  the new models don't look "grim dark" (except for the Executioner.) The style guide has been thrown away.  There are a couple of standout models like Ragnar Blackmane from the Space Wolves army but the generic "locked down" poses of the Primaris marines has made the formerly character filled models very bland.

I feel like quitting and putting my junk on Ebay.  I don't know... maybe. Maybe it's just a break.

I can't play anyone. All of the events are canceled. I'm going to have to rebuild at least one army and buy ANOTHER set of books if I do ever play again.

I'm pretty disappointed about the whole thing. I may change my mind when the world gets back to normal and my mood changes, but I'm just burnt out.

Salamanders Badab War Veteran

Primaris Marines are great sculpts, but they will never have the soul of the old hand-sculpted models.  The Badab War is my favorite battle in the 40k universe and its one of the reasons that the Salamanders are my favorite Space Marine chapter.  #miniaturepainting #paintingwarhammer #grimdark #warhammercommunity #salamanders #salamanders40k #28mm #spacemarines40k #oldhammer #badabwar #astartes #armageddon40k

Bad News for Deathwing

The new Balance Data Slate was released today for Warhammer 40k 9th edition and my beloved Dark Angels Deathwing list took a beating.  If you don't have the codex, the fourth bullet point was the rule that gave Inner Circle infantry units, like Deathwing Terminators, Transhuman Physiology. Basically, the key feature that most players loved about the list.  Rest in peace, Deathwing, we hardly knew ye. Also, what a crappy way to write that rule?! Why not simply include a sentence that says, Inner Circle models do not benefit from transhuman without use of a strategem? I know 10th edition is supposed to be cleaner and easier to understand, but this does not bode well. I'm not really a loyal Dark Angels player (see what I did there?) so I'll just shift back to playing one of my other Marines armies or orks. I've been day dreaming about a Thunder Warriors army again and dug out some bits to work on conversions. I'm loving the idea of a Age of Stryfe White Scars/Star Hunt...

Callidus Assassin

This is my newly painted Callidus assassin, Mary Poppin-yourbackfield. She scores points. I hate that I have to play one of these to stay competitive. Yar.
